 Micro Enterprises ME8800

The OPTISPEC ME8800 series of video microscopes are convenient instruments to speed up the inspection of connectors while in the polishing fixture. Designed, engineered, and manufactured by Micro Enterprises, their choice of high quality optics, video camera, and monitors provide the best quality image. Long working distance lenses offer inspection without the risk of damage to fibers.

The low profile stage provides an ease of operation with all controls conveniently located on one side for full adjustability. The new stage design and custom fixture inserts accommodate all of the standard connectors including the entire MT series of multi-fiber connectors and arrays. Fixture inserts are available for a wide range of fiber optic polishers including Domaille, and Seikoh Giken. Please contact Micro Enterprises for any questions about compatibility. With this model's ease of operation, inspecting connections while in the polishing fixture will drastically reduce inspection time.

Westover FV/FVW Bench Scope

All FV series scopes are bench-top video microscopes designed for inspecting patch cords and ferrules just after polishing. They are available in several magnifications. In general the “400x” models are used after polishing to inspect for fine defects incurred during the polishing or cleaning process. The “200x” models are most commonly used to inspect for cleanliness during system assembly or test, prior to mating connectors.

Westover FVD Digital Bench Scope

The FVD series is optically similar to the FV series but uses a high resolution digital camera over which our software maintains low level control.
Upon triggering the image capture button, the system uses the large format digital sensor to search a wide area to find the glass fiber. Once found, it captures a full resolution image over a smaller area that is centered exactly on the fiber. The low magnification image is analyzed separately from the high magnification image to provide exacting examination on, and near, the glass fiber but still evaluating a wider area for larger debris and damage.
